Once a year in August our club shows off its members' talents in our Annual Exhibition. The club displayed a total of 102 prints and 228 PDIs (Projected Digital Images) for the public to enjoy.
This year we used a new venue at the Hayling Island Community Centre. Thank you to over 150 visitors who attended this year. We hope you enjoyed the exhibition and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
We held a Raffle, which has proved to be very popular the last three years and this year didn't disappoint. The winner of the main raffle prize, the M & S Hamper, was Heather Easton.

We supplied refreshments, (with cakes donated by members) for a modest charge allowing visitors to sit back relax and enjoy the exhibition with tea and cake.
This year the club held a competition for members to take photos of Hayling Island for a club calendar to sell to the public. The conditions were that they had to take the image only using a mobile phone and any edits could also only be made by use of mobile device software. The idea was to show that no expensive camera equipment was needed in order to take a good image, as so often with potential new members this seems to be one of the reasons people feel they can't join. We also hold a free competition each year for the public to vote and choose their favourite print at the exhibition. At the end of the exhibition, one winner is pulled out of all the entries, and they receive a copy of the print they chose. This year the winning print was Raven's Stare by Debbie Mcilroy.
All the public entries are then counted to see which member has the most votes for the most popular print. The member with the most votes for their print is awarded the annual exhibition trophy winner cup. This year's winner was Glen Coe by Mike Inglis.
We offered a free five-hour workshop to anyone who might be interested in joining the club just before our new season starts in September. This was held on Saturday 29th August and our Skills Secretary Trevor Ager talked the participants through basic photography skills. This year we had 5 attendees at the workshop.

The latest header image comes from winner of the Print Of The Year 2025‐26 Peter Hickson. He explains below.
"It was a wave rolling across the West Pole Sands at the entrance to Chichester Harbour.
Taken from Eastoke point at about 3/4 tide ‐ a good south westerly wind and an out going tide tend to produce the best waves. The two forces working against each other push the waves up.
It was a 1/8th exposure and following the waves in with the camera ‐ the trick is to try and match the movement of the camera with the waves for part of the time when the shutter is open. This produces small areas where there are more structure.
It was taken in January late afternoon which meant there was limited light but the "dark" element was mainly introduced with post processing.
On Monday 8th September 2025, we held the first meeting of our 2025-26 season. There was an excellent turn out and our President, Debbie McIlroy, welcomed new and returning members.
The winner of the public vote at our recent exhibition was announced as Mike Inglis for his image "Flying Into The Storm". Coincidentally, the image was also picked as his favourite by visitor to the exhibition John Greenwood, and he was drawn out of the hat and won the print.

Following the tea break, Trevor Ager gave a presentation of our upcoming programme for season 2025-26.
We're now looking forward to a successful season, and remember you can come along to future meetings at a cost of £5, which will be taken off your membership fee if you decide to join our club.
A total of 8 prospective new members attended the free workshop run by our expert Trevor Ager on a glorious Saturday. The weather was such that we were able to take a short trip down to the beach to practise what Trevor had outlined in his presentation beforehand. On returning to the hall, several of the images taken by the prospective members were displayed and commented on.
We were delighted that 4 individuals signed up for membership of the coming season, whilst others will be making use of the free, no obligation, first meeting on Monday 8th September to further learn what the coming season has to offer. We will be shown a presentation of the 2025-26 programme amongst other features.
That's our exhibition over for another year! We hope that all of you who attended enjoyed seeing our work, and the winner of the draw for your favourite print was John Greenwood, who chose Flying Into The Storm by Mike Inglis. He is going to be presented with the print at our first meeting on Monday 8th September.
Also drawn was the winner of the exhibition raffle, the prize being a hamper full of M & S goodies! Congratulations to Linda Aston, who can be seen below receiving her prize,

Congratulations to member Jackie Rea for winning the competition to provide a new header image for the website.

to hone her fast shutter skills.
